Edlytic claims top prize in MIC Project III

May 3, 2012 — Edlytic, a company that provides interactive analytics for teaching assessment, claimed the top prize at the MIC Project final on May 3.

The winning team of Will Carey ('12) and Bryan Rauch ('12) earned $2,000. I Greek U, a social media platform for the ultimate Greek experience, finished second ($500) while PreMedia, a video marketing firm, won the audience participation prize ($500). They worked with developers from Belarus in their global endeavor. The audience participation prize was officially named the Rick Michaud Prize, named after the IP/copyright attorney who passed away this winter. Michaud was instrumental in the legal side of the program.

Snippet awarded $25,000 by TechStart Fund

March 6, 2012 — Snippet, a digital visual portfolio that connects employers and would-be employees, is among a group of startup businesses that received seed money this winter through the TechStart Fund. Open to Connecticut-based entrepreneurial or student teams, TechStart provides initial capital to help teams determine if a concept is viable and if future funding can be obtained to launch a business.

Snippet is the brainchild of Quinnipiac students Jordan Brickman, Michael Ferris, Robert Goetze, Erica Siciliano and Chris Thompson.

The concept grew out of Quinnipiac's Media Innovation Collaborative (MIC) Project, an interdisciplinary class that brings students from the university's schools of business and communications together to create innovative media business plans. Read more here and here.

U of You captures top prize for Fall, 2011

Dec. 8, 2011 — U of You, A multi-platform digital service that provides prospective students and their parents with an interactive college experience, claimed top prize during the Fall, 2011 semester MIC Project competition in front of a standing-room-only crowd in Mancheski Seminar Room.

    The company beat out three other finalists during the presentation. U of You provides prospective students with information about the institution, multi-lingual video tours, and a social networking tool connecting them to other potential students who have also shown interest in that college or university as well as current students and faculty.

    Two companies split the second prize — Qustir, a mobile application that saves users time and money through a convenient, social interaction among consumers and businesses; and Reel Vs. Reel, a company that allows college students, independent filmmakers and journalists to connect, compete and cash in through a streamlined process that is designed to promote quality work. The Social Broker, a company that takes advantage of the rapidly growing online brokerage industry by combining and creating a social network and trading platform to provide industry services in a unique fashion, claimed the audience prize through interactive mobile voting.

__Vox Populus, MyKiducation Claim Top Prizes

May 3, 2011 — Vox Populus, a company dedicated to transforming the way media organizations and investigative journalists work together to produce and publish quality content in the public interest, claimed top prize in the inaugural MIC Project Competition.

The team of senior Jennifer Swift and junior Natalie Sgro, earned $2,000 and beat out four other finalists during the final presentation in the Mancheski Seminar Room on the Quinnipiac University Mount Carmel campus.

My Kiducation, a company which converts current events into interactive children stories for mobile/tablet distribution, claimed the second prize and community award. Each were $500. The community award was selected by the audience through mobile voting.

The team of senior Benjamin Wald and junior Morgan Zollman also claimed a top venture prize at the annual Connecticut Collegiate Business Plan Competition on April 22. Students presented their plans to a panel of investors and business development experts.

My Kiducation beat out 100 other graduate and undergraduate teams from universities across the state and collected $3,500 for their business.
